January tends to be a slower month for new café and retail openings in the Tri-Cities, and there haven’t been any confirmed announcements in the past few weeks. Many local businesses use this time for post-holiday resets, renovations, or planning spring launches.

That said, winter recreation programs are now in full swing across Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody, and city councils are beginning to ramp back up after the holidays — meaning we’re likely to see more development and business news emerge later this season.

Days on market have increased year-over-year in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody. Port Moody saw the largest jump, suggesting buyers are moving more cautiously and taking additional time to evaluate options before making offers. This trend points to a more balanced, negotiation-friendly environment compared to last year.
